Graduation party porta potty guide for Bend

Bend, Summit, Mountain View and Caldera graduations land in the same two weeks of June, and so do the parties. Book early, size it right, keep guests out of the house.

When should I book for a June graduation party?

Book two to three weeks before a June graduation party in Bend, and four weeks for a deluxe unit, because the second and third weekends of June are the busiest event weekends of the year for us. Jobsite units stay available, but event units for Saturdays sell out.

Parties on the Friday of graduation are easier to serve than Saturdays; the unit still arrives the day before.

How many units for a graduation party?

A 60-guest backyard graduation party over four hours needs two units: 60 divided by 50 rounds up to two. A 40-guest party fits one deluxe unit. A 150-guest open house with a keg needs four standard units or three deluxe plus one standard, with a hand wash station if food is served.

Open houses where guests drift in and out over six hours need one more than the four-hour count.

Standard or deluxe for a party?

Choose a deluxe flushing unit when guests will be in dress clothes or when grandparents attend, because the foot-pump flush and the built-in sink feel like a real bathroom. Choose standard units when the party is casual and the budget matters; add one hand wash station next to them when food is served.

Many Bend families order one deluxe unit for the adults and one standard for the kids. Gray units photograph better than blue if the yard is in the pictures.

Where in the backyard?

Set the unit in a corner of the yard away from the patio, downwind of the west breeze, on level ground within 15 feet of where the truck parks, reached through a side gate at least 36 inches wide. If the back yard is more than 15 feet from the truck, use the side yard.

A string of solar lights on the path helps after dark.

Mark the spot Friday morning with a cone or a ribbon; nobody needs to be home.
